Express yourself with plants

The Gympie Horticulture Society invites the community to express their love of plants by entering the Gympie Garden Expo’s annual competition.
There is a special satisfaction seeing a plant that’s really happy in a particular spot, or looks amazing in that decorated pot. So why not share it?
Seasoned gardeners understand the language of plants and are creative with design, varieties and colour all the time in their gardens. Well, whether you are a seasoned gardener and know just what each plant needs. Or, like me, you tend to surprise yourself with a special magic every now again! This competition would love to see your entries. There are cash prizes to be won with over 24 sections on offer. Maybe begonias are your thing, palms or bromeliads, bonsai or euphorbia? The list is extensive with Grand Champion taking home $50.

There’s also a special Novelty Section “Decorate a box” where you can use plants to cover an overall area of 400mm. Or let your imagination run wild using no plants at all! The kids get to join in too , decorating a pot with “colourful insect -succulent”.
Size requirements allow for pots not exceeding 400mm and to be free of disease and dripping water. Entries are to be received on Friday April 29 from 1 -4.30pm
Full details can be found at http://www.gympiegardenexpo.com.au or please phone Val on 5482 7146 or email gympiegardenexpo@gmail.com for an entry form.

The Gympie Garden Expo offers a fantastic weekend of guest speakers, garden gadgets, machinery and inspiration for the garden. Come along on April 30 and May 1 from 9-4pm with only $5 entry and kids free.
