The Gympie Garden Expo has selected its champion garden and announced the lucky winners to its annual home garden competition. The winners and selected gardens will be open over the weekend event, and the public are encouraged to visit and be inspired by the dedication of these keen gardeners.
Champion Garden winners Henry and Dell Kross had the judge’s excited, “We didn’t know where to start, every turn was another adventure. We loved the modern pieces of garden art, which blended well with the traditional garden. This garden has the wow factor.”
Also open for inspection are winners of the “Town” category, sponsored by Katek Fertilisers, with first prize going to Diana Thorogood, second to Linda Dwyer and third place, Marian Sillett.
“Country” includes gardens over and acre, sponsored by Gympie Regional Council. Winners were Henry & Dell Kross, second place to Neville Sorensen and third to Kaili Parker-Price.
“Novice” is sponsored by Sauers Produce and went to G & M Wilmott Aquaponics, second place to Gayle Robinson and third to Gympie Community Gardens.
“75 and over” is sponsored by Gympie Regional Realty with first place going to Lee Hodgson, second to Suzanne Gill and third Joyce Shanks.
Schools gardens were sponsored by the Gympie Horticulture Society with the Tin Can Bay kitchen garden taking first place, second to Jones Hill Eco garden, third to Federal themed garden and a fourth prize offered to C&K Southside Community garden.
