How does your garden grow?

It’s the time of year where plants are shooting up overnight. So why not take advantage of this fantastic season and take part in the Gympie Garden Expo home garden competition. The annual event has been encouraging home gardeners to throw open their gates and share in their love of gardening for over 10 years.

There’s an encouraging amount of prize money to keep your green thumbs busy with prizes totalling $350 for each category. The competition offers five categories for garden enthusiasts. “Town” includes all gardens which are ‘under an acre’. The committee would particularly like to invite those from rural towns to take part in this pleasurable event. A beautiful garden means many things to different people. Perhaps your lovingly gathered variety of plants could provide inspiration to others.

You may not have won a prize in a garden competition, which enables you to enter the “Novice” section. For those with an expansive garden, try the “Country” section, which includes gardens ‘over an acre’. A special section is offered for “Over 75’s” to encourage those with honed skills to continue to motivate others with their horticulture expertise. Schools are also invited to showcase their kitchen gardens to the community. Each garden may only enter one category in the competition.

A very special thanks goes to major sponsors Vanderfield Gympie, Katek Fertilisers and Sauers Produce for their continued support of the competition.
