Home gardens come alive in annual competition

Gympie Garden Expo invites home gardeners to throw open their gates and share their skills in design and love of plants with its annual home garden competition. This is your chance to meet some like minded garden lovers while sharing in the joys of nurturing a beautiful garden. The annual competition will come alive on May 3 and 4 when visitors can view open gardens over the two day event.
New sections this year introduce ”Town” which includes gardens up to an acre. ”Country” involves gardens which are an acre or over, with special categories for the ”Over 75’s” and ”Novice” – those who have never entered the Gympie Garden Expo before. Why not try your luck and give some inspiration to others? It is free to enter with $1400 in prize money offered over the four sections. Entries to the competition close on April 11 with judging on April 26.
Competitions are also open for the Gympie and District Orchid Society Autumn Show and the Gympie Horticultural Society annual plant display. There is a special category for children to decorate your favourite pot plant and also a garden inspired Art competition. All details can be found online at http://www.gympiegardenexpo.com.au or you can look out for entry forms at Melco, Sauers Produce and Tom Grady.
Join the Gympie Garden Expo in May and learn tips from plant specialists, take that bugging question to the plant clinic or discover market stalls offering plants, orchids and a myriad of garden accessories to compliment the home gardener.
